Gabriel’s career began in the intricate world of finance as a Financial Analyst at Smart and Final Corporation. Over seven years, he honed his expertise in cost accounting, becoming proficient in both Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) – the cornerstone of financial accounting practices in the United States.

However, Gabriel’s professional path took an exciting turn as he delved into the realm of database technologies and data visualizations. This newfound passion led him to Miami Children’s Hospital, where he embarked on a transformative 15-year journey in healthcare IT.

A Key Player in Healthcare IT Innovation

At Miami Children’s Hospital, Gabriel was instrumental in developing and integrating the hospital’s information systems. His significant contributions included playing a major role in digitizing and implementing Health Level Seven (HL7) interfaces, essential for the hospital’s critical systems. His expertise also extended to collaborating with the Business Intelligence team to develop the hospital’s current Data Warehouse system, further showcasing his technical acumen and innovative spirit.
