Counseling for Self-Awareness Problems
Understanding Self-Awareness
Are you often overly judgmental of yourself? Are you too critical of your own behaviors, thoughts, body, habits, or over all being? Are you not critical enough? Do you struggle with becoming overly aware about your appearance, place in a crowd, or are do you struggle with your own thoughts, feelings, or emotions? You may be dealing with problems stemming from your self-awareness.
Self-awareness does not mean liking everything about yourself, but it is the ability to be conscious and aware of your own being.
It is the ability that you have to give and receive feedback. It is the ability that you have to think of yourself, it is the nature of your nurture, and it is your own insight of your true self. Your self-awareness is how you appreciate yourself.
When your self-awareness is healthy, you can reflect your thoughts easily, you can accept and promote for others, and you can learn from yourself and forgive.
When you have healthy self-awareness, you are not overly critical of yourself and your behaviors do not vary depending on who is present. Self-awareness is sometimes mental, and other times it is much more.
Self-awareness is a part of you that we need, but when you are overly self-aware, you cause yourself hardships.
Being overly or underly self-aware has its consequences. Becoming distracted or disturbed by your own thoughts and feelings can be unhealthy. Problems with self-awareness may be something that you can change.
An unhealthy measure of self-awareness can be seen in your behaviors such as:
- Inability to pay attention.
- Inability to make social connections.
- Becoming anxious about your appearance or thoughts.
- Becoming depressed.
- Suffering within, without confronting the reasons for the suffering.
- A constant feeling of struggle.
- Consciously or unconsciously causing harm to yourself or others.
Problems with self-awareness can also lead to harmful or destructive behaviors such as:
- Not being able to sleep.
- Not being able to focus.
- Eating too much or not eating enough.
- Blaming others.
- Being disruptive to others.
- Being overly self-conscious.
- Limiting your experiences.
- Limiting your interactions with others.
- Having limited morals or values.
