Obesity Counseling & Management

You should always love yourself and your body. But denying obesity can raise health risks. It can also affect your quality of life and lead to psychological issues. Reduced self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia, are just some of the psychological effects of obesity. You don’t have to live with obesity forever.

The explanations around the stigma about obesity are not difficult to understand. Our modern culture worships bodies that are young, slim, toned. With a few exceptions, only slender, proportional bodies are found desirable. Obese or overweight people are looked down on. When our culture and environment places a heavy emphasis on beauty, it is easy to feel bad, become sad, or develop eating disorders.

How does obesity affect your emotional health?

Research suggests the relationship between obesity and mental health. It shows that the metabolic syndrome that often accompanies excess weight is more likely to occur in depressed people. Since they are anxious, lonely, frustrated, or have low self-esteem, they will console themselves with “comfort food” typically high in fat and sugar content. Obesity can lead to ill health, which is related to depression and anxiety, like most mind-body experiences.

In comparison, overweight people are often more likely to miss the beneficial effects of exercise. If they feel unwelcome, unattractive, or experience social prejudice, emotional stress can contribute to additional weight gain. The situation is worse if they do not lose weight and are mistaken (or blamed) for self-control loss.

Obesity Stigma and Children

In children, the consequences of weight bias and obesity stigma are especially severe. Suppose children and young adults are humiliated or victimized by parents, relatives, and friends because of their weight. In that case, they can trigger feelings of guilt and depression, low self-esteem, negative body confidence, and even suicide.

Weight-biased teachers’ behaviors can reduce pupils’ aspirations, resulting in poor school performance for children and young adults with obesity. Obesity will affect the lives of children and potentially contribute to socioeconomic and health inequality.

Treatments and Strategies

Losing weight means being well, not the number on the scale. Please don’t push yourself on making unrealistic expectations and then strive to reach them. Create your priorities according to your level of comfort. Click here to learn more about healthy weight loss.

The first step in obesity recovery is your expectations. It requires time, determination, and dedication to move to a healthy lifestyle. You may not instantly see results. You will still go through times where you don’t lose weight even though you do something right.

Control your food intake

To lose weight, you need to eat fewer calories than you can burn. The best way to diet is to raise your consumption of fruits and vegetables, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein and reduce sweets and processed foods. Diet programs, if they’re done correctly, may also be useful. But before you find one that fits well for you, you may need to do some trial and error. Ask the perfect meal program from one of our dietitians and nutritionists.

Change your habits

Obesity treatment goes far deeper than a diet. Your lifestyle needs to be changed. But all these changes must not be done all at once. It isn’t easy to adjust your diet, physical exercise, and lifestyle. Still, you can lose weight and boost your health with a plan, effort, daily encouragement, and patience. But our team at ThoughtWise can help you gradually ease into a treatment that is suited to you and your need.

No “quick fix” is possible for obesity. Programs for weight loss need time and preparation and operate best when completed. Our team at ThoughtWise is highly capable of helping you sustain the resulting weight loss. We can help you create a plan suited to your personal needs and circumstances, with achievable and motivating goals. Let’s start small and build up gradually together.
