Worker’s Compensation Evaluation
Are you in need of a qualified provider to conduct a workman’s compensation evaluation for you? Have you been referred to us to be assessed for a workman’s compensation case that involves your mental health or cognitive functioning after an injury?
What is the purpose of a worker’s compensation evaluation?
Worker’s compensation evaluations for psychology, mental health, or brain function are usually required to be done by a licensed psychologist or neuropsychologist. At Thoughtwise, we specialize in neuropsychological, psychological diagnostic tests and assessments, and we can offer some of the most modern treatment interventions available.
What is a worker’s compensation evaluation?
Sometimes these evaluations are referred to as “functional capacity evaluations”, “workman’s compensation assessments”, or “comprehensive psychological or neuropsychological assessments” and to determine fitness of duty or medical improvement.
These types of assessments are sometimes required for you to receive workman’s compensation or other benefits for a work-related injury. Sometimes the state of Florida will request that you undergo both a medical examination and a clinical examination, or assessment of your mental health.
These assessments can help determine or prove that a current injury, or onset of a mental health diagnosis or disorder is related to or due to a work-related event.
These types of assessments are legally required and act as proof or support to your health or injury and to the cause or possible event that induced the mental health or neuropsychological related deficit, impairment, or disorder.
If desired, ThoughtWise can also preform a disability evaluation in addition to your Worker’s Compensation evaluation.
What do workman’s compensation evaluations measure?
Workman’s compensation evaluations that are needed to be conducted by a psychologist may include a neuropsychological examination (including tests that measure your brain functioning and behaviors), psychological assessments, or psychiatric diagnostic tests.
For the purpose of a workman’s compensation evaluation, the tests involved in the assessment may measure and report on your:
- Maximum medical improvement or MMI since the event.
- Functional capacity.
- Type of injury.
- Extent of injury.
- Fitness to return to work.
- Effects or genuine hardship.
- Health.
- Cognitive or neuropsychological functioning.
These types of evaluations are conducted using the most accurate information that you can provide and may involve or request of you:
- Background information and an initial screening, evaluation, or diagnostic test.
- An interview.
- A final meeting to help you understand areas of difficulty or diagnosis, and treatment options that you have.
Why do I have to take a worker’s compensation evaluation?
Worker’s compensation evaluations are sometimes court-ordered or required by law or medical examiners for you to prove an injury. Any mental health or neuropsychological injury should be properly examined by a qualified provider.
